Our nation’s collective level of patriotism and support for the military is something that I am continually impressed by. Of all the organizations that strive to fulfill the mission of helping veterans transition from the military, the SEAL Future Foundation (SFF) stands at the very top. The SFF team, comprised of veterans and industry leaders, has done a phenomenal job of helping me as I prepared to leave the SEAL teams.
Not only do the regularly exhaust all of their network and financial resources for the sole benefit of those who have served and seek a new calling, but they strive to help maintain a connected brotherhood through their website and networking events. From the creation of Forward Operating Bases (FOB) designed to help connect transitioning SEALs with promising career opportunities in a variety of cities outside of Virginia Beach and Coronado to their purpose-built website that provides a consolidated list of transition resources, the SFF truly goes above and beyond. Whether its help with the burdensome financial costs of school, advice about the job market or facilitating an introductory meeting with a military friendly business, the SFF team serves a truly worthy mission that I am grateful for.

Robert’s StoryAfter 13 years of active duty, I faced divorce and became a single dad. I was forced to leave my dream job four months out from opening coffee shop because it didn’t provide the security I needed as a single dad. Failure is not something SEALs are used to. It got dark real fast—the darkness comes from everything we’ve seen over the years setting in when we’re away from the teams and looking for support from people who haven’t been there, don’t understand, and never will.
